Division II is committed to helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation® make wishes come true, one wish at a time...

Since 2003, NCAA Division II has been a national sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raising over $1.9 million to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents and fans are serving their communities and wish kids through their heartfelt fundraising efforts. Together we have helped to grant more than 275 wishes. But the goal line is still ahead; help the Make-A-Wish Foundation achieve its vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Each year the Division II membership has been involved in various projects throughout the country to raise funds for these families. If Division II’s year-round support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is a good thing, then a concentrated version should be even better.

So it was that Division II’s national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee went all in Feb. 18-26 with its first "Week of Wishes" campaign.

The effort almost certainly pushed total Division II funds raised for Make-A-Wish past $2 million since the effort was created in 2003. It also put Division II student-athletes well on their way to meeting their 2011-12 annual goal.  Read More »


Golden Bear Make-a-Wish Initiative Recongized by NCAA

Concordia University, St. Paul

Concordia University's Make-a-Wish efforts during their Homecoming football game against Minnesota State on September 24, 2011 has been selected as one of the top-10 positive game environments by the NCAA at the Division II level. The award for Concordia carries a $500 award and a chance to be a national award winner as recognized at the 2012 NCAA Convention in Indianapolis. Concordia earned the honor by recognizing 12-year old Megan Wegge of Moose Lake, Minn., honoring her strength and bravery in her fight against liver cancer.  Read More »


Athletics partners with Make-A-Wish Foundation

Young Harris College raised $1,600 to benefit the Georgia & Alabama Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation during "Breakfast with Santa" held in the Recreation and Fitness Center Dec. 3. The event was co-sponsored by the YHC Department of Athletics, YHC Recreation and Fitness Center and Waffle House.

Young Harris College student-athletes and coaches served breakfast during the event. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to take a photo with Santa Claus provided by S & S Pix, with all proceeds benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Read More »


Saint Leo University SAAC Incorporates Core Values by Granting Wishes

Since 2003, student athletes across the nation have been working diligently to make dreams come true for children with life-changing illnesses. Nicole (DeBlois) Semeraro, wife of Saint Leo University’s Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, John Semeraro, introduced student athletes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation while studying and playing volleyball at Bentley College in Massachusetts. As a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative at her school, Nicole (DeBlois) Semeraro helped to establish the tradition of granting wishes at a National SAAC Meeting. GCU Athletes Host Successful Make-A-Wish Night

Grand Canyon University

The Grand Canyon University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted their annual Make-A-Wish Night at last night’s men’s and women’s basketball games at Grand Canyon University Arena.

GCU’s SAAC hosted five families with a total of 13 kids who were able to watch the games and participate in various activities throughout the night. The pizza party kicked off at 5:30 p.m. during the women’s game and the kids had the opportunity to go center court during the men’s game to help sing "Happy Birthday" to Grand Canyon’s mascot Thunder.  Read More »
