Blog Image Most of the sports world is talking about the baseball hall of famer Gary Carter. He led an amazing career and was admired by many. I could just write pages on his accomplishments alone. But I want to give some of you in the Division II community a chance to know the wonderful man Gary Carter was.

Coach Carter came to coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University my sophomore year. We have a fairly small school for Division II, a little over 160 student athletes, so we were all blown away when media cameras came to interview our new head baseball coach. Soon we all learned who he was and how lucky we were to have him. Most of our good fortune was based on the fact his daughter Kimmy is our head softball coach and was about to have her first child. Her husband is our compliance director, thus making our athletic department even closer knit with the ties of family.
